Executive

Chair

Description: As a screened member of the support committee and elected by the members of the support committee, the Chair is a member of both the executive and support committee. The Chair attends and chairs the committee meetings, plans agendas for committee meetings to accomplish the committee's goals. The Chair reviews the committee's charge and goals for the year and links them to the League’s strategic plans. Reviews committee projects and programs as well as assignments of individual committee members. Assigns and oversees the work of committee members and ensures that all members of the committee and volunteers are carrying out their duties in a satisfactory manner. The Chair attends all committee meetings and additional meetings with the executive committee as needed. Meetings are considered mandatory.

Vice Chair

Description: As a screened member of the support committee and elected by the members of the support committee, the Vice-Chair is a member of both the executive and support committee. The Vice-Chair is a leadership role with the expectation to be the successor of the Chair. The Vice Chair provides full support to the Chair in the leadership of all committees, attends all committee meetings and additional meetings with the Chair and executive members as needed. Meetings are considered mandatory.

Secretary

Description: As a screened member of the support committee and elected by the members of the support committee, the Secretary is a member of both the executive and support committee. The Secretary is responsible for accurately recording minutes of each monthly general meetings, prepares the agendas, sends notice of the monthly general meeting, distributes the agenda and minutes to all members, attends all committee meetings and additional meetings with the executive committee as needed. Meetings are considered mandatory.

Treasurer

Description: As a screened member of the support committee and elected by the members of the support committee, the Treasurer is a member of both the executive and support committee. The Treasurer has custody of the army cadet funds and securities managed by the support committee and attends all committee meetings and additional meetings with the executive committee as needed. Meetings are considered mandatory.

Governance: Election of the Executive Members

  • All those being nominated for an executive role must already be a screened member of the support committee to be considered.


  • In accordance with its Army Cadet League by-laws, the support committee will hold its annual election for the executive members no later than the general meeting of the committee in May of each year to elect a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.


  • The term of office for the executive roles is one year effective September 2nd to August 31st of each year, and are eligible for re-election via the election process at the end of each term with the approval of a majority vote of the committee members.


  • The Vice Chair is a leadership role with the expectation to be the successor of the Chair. Although not required, it is desirable for a Chair to have served as Vice Chair for at least a one year term.


  • If any office of the executive shall be or become vacant for any reason during the term, the support committee may appoint a member to fill such a vacancy.


  • The election is achieved by having ballots cast by the majority vote of the total eligible voters.
